Are you in love with someone?

It’s always an exciting time when you are in love with your significant other and can’t imagine life without them. Everything around you seems so blissful, and you believe that nothing can change that. You want all the sparks that you have to stay forever, and you think it will. However, you are still in the honeymoon stages of your relationship. You are either just beginning this new chapter in your life or thinking about starting it. Commitment is a magical part of life, and it can stay that way if you pay attention to these aspects:

Fair fighting rules:

In relationships, it is inevitable to fight with your significant other. Fights will occur, but if you place some fair fight rules, the end solution will be favorable on both sides. Some ways to divert the situation is to remain calm. Even though you are in a fight, you can be calm, don’t yell and use inappropriate language. By doing this, you will be able to listen to what one another has to say about the given situation, then respond correctly. In life, when you fight, you always want to be right, but it is ok to be wrong. By listening and allowing yourself to be wrong at times, you can get over the fight and makeup. Besides, a good rule to note would be to have some time to think about the issue to resolve it. By saying “I need a minute to myself,” you can allow yourself to breathe until you are ready to talk.

Family Planning/Parenting:

When you are newly married or thinking about marriage, it is always important to talk about your future. Having kids should be a big topic when considering what you want to do to make your family larger. However, by doing so, it can result in conflicts. Sometimes women are unable to get pregnant which can develop struggles in the relationship. Thus, this can cause fights and tension at home because the only thing they want is to have a child. However, if you talk about options, you can find a way to get a child. Besides, once you have a baby, it takes a lot of time and attention. You need to be able to figure out a balance. Help each other out in taking care of the baby, but also have your parents babysit so you can have a night out and focus on each other. In many relationships, people forget that they need to keep the love and intimacy going. By making time for one another, you can allow for your relationship to continue to prosper.

Creating consistency and intentionality for intimacy:

Yes, you may be married now, but that does not mean the intimacy needs to go away. You should go out of your way to surprise your significant other with a home cooked meal, or even a night out. People sometimes think since they have each other “till life do us part” that they don’t have to worry about being spontaneous and romantic. That is false, and you have to continue to tell your person how much you love them. Not only should you tell them the love you have for them, but you should show them. A relationship is all that you make it if you put your all in it like you did when you first started dating, then you will continue to fall deeper and deeper in love with one another.
